1. Toss Down is usually played on the same day as Learning Thirds.
2. This game involves coordination so practicing beforehand is recommended.
3. Cards need to be tossed with a deliberate, yet easy style so they land smoothly and straight. This works better if the cards fall from your hand rather than being placed on the rug.
4. Cards should be fairly close together. No need to leave a space for the second that occurs between the thirds.
5. Except for saying the letters now and then and giving affirming comments, you do not need to explain or teach.
6. Except for saying the letters (and laughing), the students do not talk.
7. Pace the game according to students’ ability. Be aware of how much fun it is for students to learn and be challenged.
8. Choose your tempo according to your students' energy.
