1. Once students are comfortable, toss each card as before, but toss them face down. Do this without any warning. The students will still say the cards aloud as they land on the rug. They will all be very intrigued by what you're doing.
2. Point to the first facedown A card and they will say, "A". Turn it over. "Good!" Point to each card in order and as the students answer, turn over the card. If they were uncertain in the responses, toss the next round with the cards face up.
3. When you're confident they are ready, toss the cards face down again. This time you can make it more fun by pointing to the cards out of order, but be certain they can answer successfully.
