Continue for more rounds until you get either two identical notes or two identical rests or a note and rest pair.
Then it's time for a war.
1. Place one more card face down (without covering the first two cards).
2. Add a third card face up. In this example, the dotted quarter is larger than the sixteenth note, so it wins the war. That means that team wins ALL SIX cards.
3. Teach them to turn the two facedown cards face up to see what was won. This saves time later when the cards that are won are used to continue the game. All six cards are pulled in the winner's pile and remain face up.
4. It's all in good fun, but small victories are still exhilarating. "Yay! We won the first war."
