Why You Play With Them
The reason you also have cards to play with is to make it easier for students to learn how to play the game. They will watch and learn by example much easier than you telling them what to do throughout the game.
Why Do The Cards Go UP?
This game uses an ascending upwards motion that imitates the staff. When needed, use the words ABOVE and BELOW, for example, “Place the next card above this one.”
- If a card is turned sideways or upside down, simply re-align it rather than verbally correcting the student directly Everyone is watching you adjust the card and learn. The goal is to place the cards in the right order
- The color matching helps create a clear vertical path for the eye so students learn more easily
- Most of the time it’s okay if a few students are not talking – participation is enough
