
In Brief:
Students play side-by-side, each with their own set of rhythm playing cards matching five notes and five rests. This game does not use dotted notes and is played in horizontal rows.
Objectives:
To practice matching the whole, half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth note and rest pairs
Prerequisite Concepts:
blue jello cards set 1 side 1 and side 2 (optional)
understanding of the sequence of whole, half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes and rests
understanding of which notes match which rests
Teacher's Role:
Play the game first as a group to teach this game. When it is time for students to play individually, teachers can walk around and watch students play. It is a great time to give positive feedback and encouraging words to students.
Repetitions:
Play for about 10 minutes in a session. Usually played once or twice.
